I know, every year I wring my apron & moan & groan and then I just do it–why?
Because it’s an important fundraiser for a great organization that welcomes and serves immigrants, refugees, migrants, and asylum-seekers in Western Massachusetts. They offer free classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), career preparation assistance, support services and immigration legal services.
The deal is, I promise to write a poem a day for the month of November. In exchange, you pledge your support to the Center for New Americans. I can’t promise each poem I write is a masterpiece, but I can promise that you’re doing a good thing–and I always get a few keepers out of the bunch!
The goal this year is to raise $65,000, and my personal goal is to raise $1000 of that total. I hope you’ll join me in supporting these much-needed services in our community.
Here’s the link to donate. Thank you! Any amount you can give is much appreciated.

I think you sign up every year because you totally love it and it enriches your poetry life and enhances your keen sense body so that so much more of your world, and, thus, our worlds, become poetry. Love, a really super-mungo fan of yours PS-remember that time we almost had lunch? We should totally do that again.
